Himel and the environment
At Himel, we are committed to our planet. Therefore, we have a company culture that is absolutely respectful of the environment. We integrate into our strategic decisions the development manufacturing products and processes that optimise energy consumption and permit recycling.
All our factories have obtained the ISO 14001 Certificate of Environmental Management (GA-1997/0030 and GA-1997/0031) and the Registered Certificates EMAS according as per CE-761/2001 standard (ES-CAT-000055 and ES-CAT-000056), the maximum institutional recognition for Himel’s efforts towards the development and application of clean technologies in production processes, which reduce environmental impact and contribute to the conservation of the environment.
Himel Environmental Information
According to our Environmental Policy, clearly committed to respecting the Environment and backed by the implementation of Environmental Management Systems compliant with the UNE-EN-ISO-14001 standard and voluntary adhesion (CE) no. 761/2001 - EMAS II at our industrial sites, the following commitments have been made in terms of Environmental Policy at Himel:
- To dynamically and continuously improve conditions for a clean environment, to satisfy our clients, anyone who uses our products, their personnel and the autonomous communities where they are present.
- To offer metal and insulating enclosures for electrical switchgear, guaranteeing efficacy and safety, while preserving natural resources and energy.
- Give our clients and suppliers accurate information.
- Develop environmentally-friendly products and manufacturing processes, paying special attention to innovation in accordance with future environment-specific legislation, leveraging new technologies that make it possible to use natural resources sparingly.
This company environmental culture is geared towards developing environmentally-friendly products and manufacturing processes with environmental comparative assessments and analyses carried out in the new-product design phase to this end. These analyses range from materials that cannot be used, as they are environmentally undesirable or forbidden, to the possibility of minimising packaging, or avoiding, when possible, the use of different materials that cannot be disassembled.
The waste produced by our products at the end of their life cycle is totally inert, and metal and plastic pieces are best treated via separation to facilitate recycling as per the national or local law, accordingly.
